The Miss Universe Malaysia Gala Night was held recently at Royale Chulan on the 15th of May 2010, and I was there together with Advertlets Bloggers. Advertlets is the official partner for Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 this year, and so far we’ve been given very good access to the pageant events.

This is one of 4 posts about the event! (Too many pictures!)

As I had to look sharp (I was presenting the subsidiary title of Advertlets Best Blogger to one of the contestants), I bought a new suit that I’ve been eyeing a while. Surprisingly affordable and very worth it. It’s shiny and Korean popstar-styled :)

Sometimes when you look back and think of who you remember from your past, you start analyzing how it might have led you to the decisions you made, or the ones that you continue to make.

It kind of explains the ‘Korean hair’ I have. And why I’ve almost always dated older women so far. I’ve been deciding whether or not to write this for many months now, and I figured I should.

This is a story of my first love. Not my first girlfriend. When you grow up, you’ll understand that your first love and your first girlfriend are sometimes…different things with different people.

This is a story that I’ll share because I think it may be relevant to many people I know. Especially the part about what to do if someone pulls a gun on you. Yes, that’s in the story as well.

This is my overdue post from PC Fair. Lots of pictures! A whole bunch of us Advertlets Bloggers went actually. Including the Teng sisters, who came all the way down from Penang!

From left: Jason Ong, Joyce Teng, Povy Teng, Josh Lim (I like how my arms look big in this photo).

Brendan Lee was not there, but Brendan was there:

Of course, part of the whole draw of PC fair (besides the lower prices), are the lovely promoters and the costumes.

Other than that, there was some other stuff spotted (I know you’re here for the girls, read on first can)

I don’t always go to three different parties in a night, but when I do, it’s good to share it here.

I first headed down to the Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Party at Ciao Restorante.

I brought along my Canon D1000 which I had just gotten recently.

Surprisingly, one of the first few people I saw there were Advertlets Bloggers - they were apparently contracted to take pics of the event. Didn’t know till then!

From left: ?? (will fill this in a bit), Eu Veng, and the Sony Alpha Gang: Bryan, Jason, Ewin.

The latest iPhone has been reported in the wild, purportedly left at a Redwood City bar (camouflaged as a 3GS), and later on sold to Gizmodo for the price us USD 10,000. Gizmodo has broke the news, putting up no less than 3 videos as well as detailed specs of the machine.

It is interesting that Daring Fireball (a very accurate source of Mac rumours), has noted in a tersely worded blog post that  “Apple considers the phone stolen” and Techcrunch mentions  the implication that Gizmodo is in “possession of stolen goods”

Comparision of 3GS and ‘4G’ iPhone side-by-side (the new iPhone is the one on the left)

Noted features
- Thinner than 3GS

- Plastic/glass backing
- Front facing camera
- Back camera has a flash for photography
- Larger resolution “”It’s unclear if it’s the 960×460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the Connect iTunes screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.”
- Larger battery
- Aluminium border
- Seperate volume buttons

Why the leak is very credible:

- Techcrunch and Daring Fireball are backing up the story, and purportedly know some details on the origin of the phone. Both seem to say that it is stolen.
- Runs iPhone OS 4.0
- Pops up iTunes when plugged in.
- Different product identifier
- Micro-sim (similiar to iPad)
- Internal components labelled Apple

Recently, thanks to Tune Group, Advertlets bloggers got to attend two very cool events. First off was the Lotus F1 Launch event at Pavilion. We were invited thanks to Tune Money!

My childhood hero Tun Dr Mahathir was there. Regret not getting to shake hands with him. Closest I got to proximity was about 2 metres thanks to extensive security and the crowd. Maybe one day. During my Datukship ceremony. Hopefully.

This is obviously not Josh Lim

Guess what it is? We both use Biotherm Homme!

Okay seriously. That was a bit of a tenous connection, but now that I have your attention…

One thing that I’ve discovered about getting older - I actually have to take the effort to take care of my skin.

Unlike when I was younger, last time I could basically take it for granted that I’ll have nice skin la.

It doesn’t help that I’ve been sleeping later, clubbing and smoking more.

After getting past 23 years old, I’ve found that my skincare regimen can’t really consist of just splashing water on my face anymore.

Biotherm Homme was kind enough to sponsor me some products to try out, and I must say that they do feel quite nice on my skin in addition to working - my skin seems softer, and its been helping to smooth some of the skin imperfections I have.

Here’s my skincare regime:

biotherm-josh-products

First, I use the spa concentrate as a pre-skincare regimen. What it does is its supposed to prep your skin before scrubbing (to reduce redness).

Then you basically go through the 3 basic steps.

Cleanse, tone & moisturise. I cleanse using Biotherm cleanser, it has a nice slight scent to it. Cleanser basically does what it says la - clean. Then toner, which is to close up pores and remove leftover dirt. After that, the moisturizer. The purpose of moisturizer is essentially to tell your skin - “Hey skin! I’ve got you all nice and moist, so please don’t secrete too much sebum/oil so I look handsome okay? KTHXBAI.”

Wasn’t that educational? :)

If you have bad skin, you’ll be surprised how well a simple cleanse/tone/moisturize regime can work. A friend of mine, currently dating a girl that I introduced him to, used to have pretty bad skin. You could say it looked like pizza. She (quite image concious) made him do basic skincare, and its cleared up drastically. She is pleased about the improvement. (And they are still together as of now).

So guys, do take care of your skin. Because looking like a pizza face is out, and the media has more or less dropped the term “metrosexual”. If anything, if not for yourself, take care of your skin for better chances with the opposite sex…

Not much text in this post, just click play :) This is probably like, my favourite video this year, or like EVER. Apparently you guys like playing Flash games, judging from the amount of posts in my Facebook feed. Instead of tending to your virtual farm or running a virtual gang, here’s a chance for you to actually win something through a Flash game.

Biotherm Homme is running a contest for you to win F1 Tickets for the highly anticipated F1 event in Sepang in April. I went for F1 last year (sponsored grandstand tickets, woot!) - you can check it out my previous posts on the topic here. It was pretty much a great experience - 2 days of girls, cars and activities. This year, I’ll probably have my tickets sorted too. Check out the pic below (or click to check it out!)

Josh Lim's F1 Weekend (Teaser)

Josh Lim's F1 Weekend (Teaser)

So I give you chance. I let you win la :) I’m going to give you some tips!

Prizes are good - tickets to the F1 Race in Sepang in April, as well as Biotherm products worth over RM5000!

Anyway, here are the tips to win…

The Facebook game is called Race To Gain. You can access it here.(Click on the image to go there)

biotherm-josh-01

There are basically three stages - Revitalize Cleansing, Prepare & Energize and Energy Reservoir.

The game mechanic basically tests your reflexes and coordination - you essentially have to line up the pulsing dot with the moving bolt.

biotherm-josh-tips

Here’s the things to understand that will help you increase your score:

- Line up the dot in the centre of the hole in the bolt to gain the best possible score

- Unless you are Neo of The Matrix, it is impossible for you to press the keys fast enough when you see it lines up. Instead, you should anticipate when it will align

based on the speed of the bolt.

- The speed increases over time, and the game gets harder towards the end.

- Play every week, it increases your chances!

- Using your thumb is probably the fastest way to rapidly press the spacebar.

Good luck winning those F1 tickets, and hope the tips help!
