E! Asia News Audition Pics! (Part 3 - Finale!)
Celebrities, Parties & Events February 16th, 2010
With nothing much to do while waiting for Hanie to finish auditioning, I decided to go around to snap some more pictures…most of the auditioneers (if that is a word) were doing either one of these 3:

Don’t know whether I mentioned this earlier, but the place of the auditions was the rooftop of Lot 10 - best known for having Rootz, Teeq & The Actors Studio. You can also see Celebrity Fitness visible from the rooftop garden. Very picturesque place indeed with lots of greenery.

Not pictured here are also two Hitz.FM deejays (JJ and Rudy dropped by), as well as someone who requested I not post her picture because she took leave for the day, and doesn’t want her colleagues/boss to know, ahaha!
Here’s a collage of some of the many interesting people I met/snapped.

I also met this year’s Miss Malaysia, but no photos. The conversation went something like this.
Me: Hey, I know I’ve seen you before. FHM Girl Next Door? Some Pageant? Where ah?
Thanuja: Mm, probably not there…
Me: Oh, yes! Not I remember, at the Veuve Clicquot champagne party a couple of months ago! Hmm, but where do I know you from?
Thanuja: Well, I’m this year’s Miss Malaysia.
Me: Oh cool! Sorry about that. embarassed. Er, can I have a picture?
Thanuja: Pageant rules say no pictures, sorry. *
* Got such a thing mer? Not that I know of…
Anyway…that aside…
Lastly, the cutest outfit award goes to this petite lass, Sarah Hildebrand! She wasn’t auditioning, but she dropped by to support a friend. I couldn’t find my lighter, (because I smoke, duh) and got a light from her (because she was smoking…hot. Ahaha.) She’s Pan-Asian, and I think she has an interesting eyebrow pattern. You can follow her on Twitter here: @SarahHildebrand
Turns out she’s as talkative and bubbly as she looks…apparently she recently came back to Malaysia recently from the States, and this is one of her favourite hoodies (and presumably her favourite sports team). Nice to meet you, Sarah!

Here’s another pic of Sarah. Remember what I said about the eyebrows?

And as a special surprise, here’s a very different picture of Sarah (yes, it’s her in a rather Lady Gaga-esque photo shoot). Goes to show that you don’t have to be tall and lanky to be stunning:

And another:

Okay, that’s all! For more you can visit Hanie’s blog (I used her camera to take the pics here).

E! Asia News Audition Pics! (Part 2 - Josiah Mizukami, Natacha Meunier, Juliana Evans & more…)
Celebrities, Parties & Events February 16th, 2010
Continuing the special report on the E! News Asia audition…here are some of the people I met there and had a chance to talk to.
Josiah & Natacha are people I somehow met on Facebook before I met in real life, and make for a ridiculously good looking couple. Josiah Mizukami is a rare breed. First off, he’s a male model who is straight. Ahaha. He’s half Caucasian, half Japanese, and was born in Hawaii. Natacha Meuneir is from Paris, France. I think she’s half Asian. I would guess Chinese/French, but I’ve gotta check with her.

So he’s from Hawaii. She from France. And they both met halfway around the world while on assignment in Thailand. Their kids are gonna be so good looking, ahahah. Here are some pics of Josiah (girls, don’t say I never think of you all as well…):

I am so jealous of his abs.

Where you’ve seen him: Hosting Miss Malaysia World, Dashing Cologne TVC, Female’s 50 Most Gorgeous People.

Yes, Josiah is a pimp daddy. Check out his Youtube channel here, and his ModelMayhem profile here.

Tiong Sue Lynn, Josiah Mizukami, Natacha Meunier
Special for Josh.my Readers: Josiah’s throwing a party with models at a secret location end of this month (he owns a modelling agency as well). If you’re reading this, tweet/DM/FB/e-mail me and I can arrange passes. Selected bloggers only. It helps if you have a DSLR and know how to party
And now…Natacha Meunier. Where you’ve seen her: Female Magazine cover, TVCs for American Express/Maybank, HSBC, Pizza Hut & more…

My head is huge! OMG!

and more…

Yup…

You can close your jaw now, or check out her reel:
And now for a local celeb…Juliana Evans! I really like how this shot turned out. It was achieved by partially blocking the camera flash with my hand.

Juliana Sophie Evans is a fast rising star in the Malay entertainment industry. You probably first saw her in KAMI:

Also, she was at the recent Revive Isotonic Rev Up Party at Euphoria, Ministry of Sound.

She was joined at the audition by her friends Bernice and Hanie:

Here are a few more shots of her:

She is currently dating a rockstar (Sam from Bunkface - yes, those guys who sang “Through My Window, the Everyone Connects / TM Streamyx thing”, so you guys have no chance la!
Okay that’s it for now! More in part 3!

E! Asia News Audition Pics! (Part 1 - Yvonne Sim & more!)
Celebrities, Parties & Events February 15th, 2010
Recently went for the E! Asia News audition…no, not to try out but to support a friend. Spotted a familiar face there, among many others!

Yes, none other than Yvonne Sim, FHM Girl Next Door 2010 winner. And yes, you saw Yvonne here first.
Trivia: Did you know that Yvonne Sim was the last to audition for the FHM Girl Next Door search? And that I sent her to the audition?
Congratulations girl, you made the petrol/trip worth it! Good luck with this round too.
Update: Here’s a picture of Yvonne on the cover of the latest issue of FHM. Thank me for sending her there if not you don’t get to see her here okay

Moving on…

This dimpled beauty is of mixed Filipino/Chinese heritage. She has an awesome tattoo and she told me the meaning, but I won’t tell you
She’s looking into expanding her horizons in the entertainment field, currently she works as a personal assistant, but who knows, in time she’ll have her own PA.

I really like the way the colors and lighting turned out on this shot. It’s mostly unretouched except for contrast adjustment. And yes, the lens flare is real.

Aly is a radio DJ on Red FM and a food blogger with two blogs. Check out Aly’s blog here and here. It was nice to put a face to the voice. She’s tall with model-like proportions. You wonder why she’s hidden behind a DJ console, she should be out there.

Speaking of food bloggers, the Bangsar Babe, Tiong Sue Lynn was also there! Earlier on in the day, I actually went with her to check out a new place together with other bloggers (in where else, Bangsar of course) called El Meson. You can check out Rebecca’s review of El Meson. A little pricey, but worth it.

That’s Amelia Chen with an appropriately designed folder. We were from the same secondary school. She’s done quite a few short films and plays and is making a name for herself. Read more about her here on the Malay Mail Online. I envy her as she’s managed to pursue her acting ambition, something I hadn’t had the time to do. (I did two plays, and a couple of TVCs before I got too fat/busy. Oh well…)

Okay that’s it for now, more to come in this coming week!

Back from Tali Tenang by RandomActs! #talitenang
Parties & Events, Video January 23rd, 2010

Flyer for Tali Tenang
Recently, (like, a few hours ago), I participated in the flashmob for “Tali Tenang”. It’s an event organized by RandomActs in the spirit of national unity. Basically, Malaysians were invited to bring along strings, tie them together, and walk in the spirit of 1 Malaysia unity & peace among Malaysians.
It’s a lot less corny than it sounds, and it was pretty fun. It’s like the opposite of bombing places of worship! All in all, it was really nice to see everyone come together to do something positive. You’ll get a good idea of it by checking out the #talitenang hashtag on Twitter.
Here are some pics…
That’s me. Love my Korean 3GS case
It’s got a little ring attached (so I can hold it easier while shooting videos/prop up on table) and a mirror! Photo by roflina, thanks!

Epic picture walking back after the event. Shot by Jeremy.

Here’s a video from Tali Tenang that I shot from my iPhone 3GS (vid quality isn’t too good, just uploaded, it should be better later as Youtube finishes processing it)
Tali Tenang: Crossing the road at Jalan Telawi
And here’s one of the arrival at the the final destination, Bangsar Sports Complex. There were about 200+ people who took part in total!
Cincauhangus also has a great video of the Mexican Wave at the end. Can you spot me? I’m at the second row from the back, on the right side (your right).
Also, if you’ll like to see some pictures from the event, check out this page on Twicsy and also Carolyn Chan’s Posterous.
Here’s a list of tweeters that were there as far as I know:
@andygts, @ZainHD, @nikicheong, @spinzer, @joshlim, @bboyrice, @kruel74, @cincauhangus, @syazaliyana, @feliciazoe, @jibone, @juriiia, @netraKL, @juanajaafar, @tekong, @Rockerina, @ckgord, @haniehidayah, @altmet, @icallitart, @victorliew, @thechannelc, @ling_chan, @roflina, @devuschka, @thisiskj, @dafrosty, @randomalphabets, @yapthomas, @Qishin
And of course, @Rais_Yatim. Haha, just kidding, no he did not.
More to come soon! If you’ve blogged about it as well, leave a comment and let me know, I’ll love to see your shots too!
I met Hannah Tan for dinner and she told me that…
Advertlets, General, Parties & Events, Sharing November 16th, 2009

Josh Lim, Hannah Tan. I'm the one on the left that's not a cute celebrity.
So recently I met Hannah Tan for dinner in Bangsar…yeah I know what you’re going to say “pics or it didn’t happen!”. Got pics. Here. Nah. Pics from Hannah’s blog actually
So anyway for those of you that don’t know who Hannah Tan is - she’s a model, emcee, and artiste. Also, Malaysia’s Sexiest Woman 2006 with brains to boot - she has a degree in Computer Science. She’s also recently invaded Japan, being one of the first few (if not the first) Malaysian to produce and debut an album in Japan. RM6 mil deal wei!
She’s also the driving force behind the H-Factor Creative Youth Workshops that were held last year. Advertlets was a media sponsor for the event, and I must say that personally I think the event turned out very well.
So, here’s what Hannah told me…

Hannah Tan. Pics from FHM Singapore
She’s Having A Christmas Concert!
She’s having a special charity concert together with other local artistes to benefit disadvantaged children this December 20th in Genting Highlands. Keep that date free, because Hannah Tan asked you to! We’ll be working out an arrangement for you bloggers to get to go, perhaps even arrange a bus to all go up together!
PS: This concert hasn’t been announced yet officially, but she says it’s okay for me to post this up
She’s starring in a new movie, coming out soon!

From left: Carmen Soo, Hannah Tan, Daphne Iking. Pic from Rebecca
Also, Hannah has a new movie coming out called “My Spy“, where she plays the lead. It also stars super-celebrity Advertlets blogger Daphne Iking, as well as Carmen Soo, AC Mizal and Maria Farida.
You can check out some exclusive behind the scenes pictures over at Rebecca’s blog. And yup, we’re going to get tickets for you to watch when the time comes, of course.
So that’s it for now. Stay tuned here and this other blog for details over the next few weeks!
Beyonce Concert in Malaysia Cancelled (Or Postphoned?)
Ask Josh!, Parties & Events, Sharing, Stuff October 19th, 2009

Update: (6:37PM): Official statement from Marctensia regarding the Beyonce concert is here. Summary: It is postponed. No future date announced. But it won’t be anytime from today till 14 November 2009 (because you can get refunds from 26th Oct 2009 till then). You wonder though, whether this will be postponed the same way Rihanna was “postponed?” (btw, understandably, Rihanna was organized by Pineapple Concerts, not Marctensia). My sympathies go out to Marctensia. It doesn’t seem like they were the ones that didn’t want this to happen.
Update: (6:08PM): Got off the phone with someone in Maxis. It is postponed indefinitely, and it doesn’t seem anytime too soon.
Update: (6:05PM): An official tweet from @maxiscomms says that: “Beyonce concert is postponed and NOT cancelled. We are getting a response from the Event Organizer right now to have an official statement.”
Update (3:39PM): Malaysia is not listed on the tour dates of Beyonce’s official site. But her album did go platinum in Malaysia, lol.
Breaking news. Beyonce’s concert in Malaysia has been postphoned. According to 3 different sources, “a Maxis marketing officer has said that it is postphoned, an an announcement will be made tomorrow.”
My sources are: Two people in Twitter, and several that I know in real life (involved as a sponsors/associates) who spoke on the phone with people from Maxis. This seems pretty final.
Honestly, this does not bode well for Malaysia. Although I’m not a big Beyonce fan, she is Beyonce, a top international act - and I would have gladly paid to go. Stuff like this that just keeps happening makes international artistes skip Malaysia as a concert venue to go to Indonesia & Singapore instead. Tourism Malaysia HOWWW. Future of Malaysia HOWWW.

Run with Amanda Choe & Jason Goh!

Amanda Choe is the girl. On the left. Jason Goh is the guy in red, on the right.
Advertlets Bloggers Amanda Choe & Jason Goh have recently been chosen for the Nike+ Ambassador Challenge. They are on opposing teams (Sambal Sprinters vs Rojak Runners), I’m not quite sure who to support yet, lol.
Here’s how you can join in (taken from Amanda’s blog):
If you’ve got Nike+ technology, just head on to the website, sign in with your Nike+ ID and select a team that you wanna run for. Teams are Sambal Sprinters (comprising of Malaysian footballer Zaquan Razak, Rudy from Hitz.fm and yours truly, Amanda Choe) against the Rojak Runners (made up of Zher Peen from 8TV, Nana from ERA.fm, Niki Cheong a.k.a. the Bangsar Boy and JasonSmashpopGoh). Then clock in your run after you’ve finished your workout! The whole shindig is a build up to the actual race day on the 24th. The top three runners from the team that successfully clocks in the most miles will stand to win loads Nike Running prizes!
Go tweet them if you’ll like to run with them: @amandachoe and @jasongoh. The Sambal Sprinters are having a session this Sunday, if I’m not mistaken. (Help Sambal Sprinters, their team got only 3 ppl, the other team Rojak Runners has 4! How can wei!) See more details here on the official Nike site.
…
And…lastly, also, in other news, we closed a big blog advertising campaign for Advertlets today. You’ll see it around soon. I is happy. Yays!.

Twas Fun at #TwestivalKL! Photos & more!
General, Parties & Events, Twitter September 17th, 2009

The ones I can spot: @scamboy, @nikicheong, @manda_lew, @smashpop, @friedbeef, @benjicajess, @joshlim, @bryanlyt, @elainedaly, @willsquah. Photo from Dustyhawk. More photos from him here.
Kuala Lumpur’s biggest Twitter gathering/party, Twestival KL was held recently and I was there! Look carefully, the handsome one in the center above, dark glasses, right below the girl with the hat.

Check out more photos @smashpop's blog.
The event attracted over 200 people and raised about RM11,000 for Destiny Starting Point, the chosen charity for the event. TwestivalKL is part of the global Twestivals.
What are Twestivals? A Twestival or Twitter-Festival is a global series of events organized by volunteers around the world under short timescales, which bring people offline for a great cause. Twestival is run 100% by volunteers and independently from any not-for-profit; although the organizing teams do work closely to outline an achievable and measurable fundraising target. Twestival also sets out to identify key skills of volunteers and match these with the needs of the cause; particularly communications strategy, tech integration and social media training. Twestival Local takes place in cities around the world : 10-13 September 2009. From: http://twestival.com/twestival-local-2009/
So what do people do at these gatherings?
- Camwhore! Many DSLRs, cameraphones and point and shoot cameras were seen.
- Tweet! Check it here: #twestivalkl
- Eat & Drink: 1901 Hotdogs, New Zealand Natural Ice Cream (my fav), Tiger Beer
- Talk: Because it’s fun to talk in real life too!
So…in conclusion:
I’m surprised how many people there I knew who tweet. Including those that I follow, and those that I didn’t know who tweeted.
Strangely enough, I did not tweet while there (though I did add someone to my follow list). In the interest of not letting Twitter take up all my free time, I mainly only tweet from the web (not on my mobile).
All in all, it was a great event for a great cause.
Congratulations to @nikicheong, @ling_chan, @radianceleong, @suanie and more (I don’t know all your names, unfortunately) for a job well done organizing the event. Also thanks to the sponsors: @1901HotDogs, @AirAsiaBlog, @AirAsiaDotCom, @BoostMalaysia, @CzipLee, @DiGi_Telco, @Lenovo_MY, @littletrinketco, @MistClubBangsar, @nznMY, @pokenasia, @RawPixelStudios, @StarbucksMY, @Text100MY, @TheCupcakeChic, @TheStar_RAGE
Lastly, you want to follow @joshlim on Twitter.
