Recently, thanks to Tune Group, Advertlets bloggers got to attend two very cool events. First off was the Lotus F1 Launch event at Pavilion. We were invited thanks to Tune Money!

My childhood hero Tun Dr Mahathir was there. Regret not getting to shake hands with him. Closest I got to proximity was about 2 metres thanks to extensive security and the crowd. Maybe one day. During my Datukship ceremony. Hopefully.

All these photos are from Advertlets bloggers btw, who came armed with their DSLRs. I’m very happy with how the photos turned out, with each blogger covering a different angle with not much overlaps. It’s interesting to see how the subjects taken reflect the bloggers own interests, for example, Jeremy who is a dancer took these pretty awesome wide angle shots of the dance troupe. And Jason & Brendan took lots of photos of the girls. Ahem :)

For no reason at all, I have to tell you that some of these girls have added me on Facebook :)

Here’s a closeup of the car. It’s interesting how the 1 Malaysia theme is seeping into F1 as well, and personally, I think a Malaysian team in F1 is a lot better than sending a Malaysian to space. With CNN as an official partner of the Lotus F1 team as well, this could give Malaysia quite a bit of international coverage. And maybe foreigners will stop thinking that we live in trees :)

This is apparently the ACTUAL Lotus Cosworth T127 that was eventually used in the race. I really wonder how they got it into Pavilion in the first place. And I wonder whether it involved driving the car through the complex.

It was also nice to see the latest Proton Satria Neo R3 - the follow up to the series of the Satria GTI and the Satria Neo GTI R3,

“With enhanced engine performance, braking, Lotus-tuned chassis and R3-tuned suspension, the Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing promises an unmatched performance within its class. The new model remains true to the Lotus philosophy of performance with amazing handling, superior braking, and precise steering, coupled with lightweight body – elements that are fundamental in a Lotus car.”

The Advertlets Bloggers at the event with Tune Group staff, including rockstar Jason Lo (now CEO of Tune Talk) who now sports a new goatee. When are you going to return to writing rock songs, Mr Lo? I used to listen to you all the time as a kid!

FYI, bloggers in this picture include Azrin Aziz, Ridzuan Richie, Bryan Lowyat, Rebecca Saw, Hanie Hidayah, Brendan Lee, Wilson Ng

There was an afterparty as well, which I couldn’t attend due to some other work commitments. Brendan got to have lots of fun though, meeting the drivers themself as well as many VIPs at the event.

And of course, we got to go to the race itself, thanks to Tune Hotels! Here’s a preview of Jason Ong’s shots, I’ll be compiling some of my own soon and writing a longer post on it.

You may note also that I recently got a new toy, a Canon 1000D - so you’ll be seeing more photos from me soon.
