Sometime back, I posted pics from The Malaysian Dreamgirl Season 2 finale at the Curve. Here are the rest of them. Better late than too damn late, right?

Let’s start with the opening evening wear.

joshmy_dreamgirl_p2_dresses

Must say that these were quite nice. Especially the green weave dress.

Traditional wear…

For some reason, some of the girls are nicer to shoot than others. I think you can see why.

Economics and international business graduate Dawn Lim Yeen Sze, 23,  is happy and expressive. With a ridiculously cute smile (AND SUPER DIMPLES OMG!) like that she can make you forget for a while about all the heartbreak, sadness, economic turmoil, war and pandemic flu in the world, for a while at least. You want to pat her on the head and ruffle her soft spiky hair and give her a big hug.

I don’t really watch the show, but based on her sheer niceability of how she turned out in photos, I was rooting for her to win. Later on while Googling, I found out she was a fellow Lim as well. Hokkien heritage FTW! I do hope we’re not related though…

Behold, I present you -The many faces of Dawn Lim Yean Sze:

Dawn is hot & sweet (like a fresh Original Glazed Krispy Kreme Donut).

Dawn is awesomeness in a 170cm, 49 KG frame.

(Which is close to a perfect BMI [Body Mass Index]. I believe as a rule, Asians should subtract 2-3 KG from the charts. Because Americans developed the BMI system, and Americans are seriously FAT lards.)

I don’t know why she only finished as second runner up. Countless innocent lives are lost everyday, only 5% of the world controls 90% of it’s wealth, those with power are immune to prosecution for their crimes, and Dawn Lim did not win Malaysian Dreamgirl Season 2. Such is the nature of injustice in this world.

Anyway, here are some of the people I met at the event! :)

Elvanna Raine

Some of the people at the event, including Kim, Rachel, Cynthia, Yvonne Sim, Tim, and the crew from Ruumz.

Ean (of the Hitz.fm Breakfast Show with Ean & JJ) mentioned that he reads my blog.

Now I know that at least two radio DJs from Hitz.fm are reading my blog.Speaking of which, if you’re wondering what’s with the picture on the left? It’s not just another random hot chick, I have found out recently that she reads this blog too. Cool. Go check her out.

Now, back to our regular programming…

Here are some lovely pairings of hot women:

The HP round of the show, which showcased technology. Although the HP Mini Vivienne Tam edition is beautiful, unfortunately, I think people may not have been paying much attention to the items in the model’s hands:

Some pics from later. The skirts were really short. Some commented that they could see the girls pulling down their skirts as they were walking.

No wonder some opted for tights, but that isn’t really being very thoughtful of your audience la.

Dawn so cute right?

And…anyway, towards the end:

Above: Pinky Liew getting her prizes, as 1st Runner up. Okay la, but I would rather Dawn have taken yours or Juanita’s place.

It’ll be interesting if Pinky has sisters. Then her parents can name the rest of the children after the rest of the finger names:

Pinky Liew, Thumb Liew, Middle Liew, Ring Liew, Index Liew.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. :)

It’s interesting how beauty pageants / reality shows are so conducive in making anyone, even nice people like your Mom & Dad able to make snap judgements of anyone. They might be nice people in real life with parents and people that love them, but a big part of the ‘fun’ for the audience in this kind of shows is viciously passing judgement based on shallow intepretations of personality or beauty based on what is seen for a short period of time.

You know deep down in your heart that that is absolutely true, and you are an evil human being for thinking like that. Shame on  you. But it’s so fun right? Hahaha. :)

Juanita who won, which I still don’t know how you won. I wonder if you two are related, and how much you spend on SMS.

After the show:

And lastly, some misc pics, and some the people I met after the event for drinks. Yes, I was there at The Curve until really late.

Okay, that’s it. Sekian, terima kasih.

Thanks for the insightful thoughts, thanks for our pics… exactly what most of us whould have thought about in your post except that I was really rooting for Pinky and Pinky did possess the aura in reality, although Dawn did succeed her “aura” over on TV. Juanita has been pretty consistent throughout.

Like I’d said even in last year’s MDG on my blog, I think that someone has to pay the organizers / crew / the aunty who packs the rice for the girls - some $$$, so what better way than to generate through SMS votes?

    Josh Lim Reply:

Hey Kim. Good to know your thoughts, and that you agree. I haven’t really seen that much of the show, most of my impressions were based on what I saw that day.

But I think that a system where SMS votes count, but are not the ONLY way where the winner is determined will be fair. Even one of the sponsors (not saying who, even it was said publicly), did say that a contest solely based on SMS votes cannot possibly be fair.

I was talking about this today with a model friend, and she said to me that basically something that has seems to hold true for this and the previous season of Malaysian Dreamgirl: the winner is the one that gets the most SMS votes, the runner-up is the one with model potential, and the second runner-up is the crowd favourite. Seems to be that way.

Hi Josh, you are spot on about Dawn’s laughs.
On why Juanita won, it still leaves me baffled.
