Recently I went for a party @ One Utama in conjunction with their Fashion @ 1 series of events.

The crowd was huge, and armed with cameras ranging from cameraphones, point and shoot cameras, to high end digital SLRs that cost more than your car.

It was hosted by bloggers, strangely enough. Actually, it was by experienced TV hosts who are also bloggers:  Belinda Chee (visit her blog) and Henry Golding (who also has a blog, but alas, does not update often.)

There was also a pretty good LCD setup made out of different panels to serve as the backdrop for the models. Very nicely done - it was soundbars at first, then random patterns as different clothing collections were paraded by the models.

The screen and the models:

I didn’t take as many pictures as I would like to unfortunately, because the surrounding area was pretty packed by the time we got there, so it was hard to get good shots.

Besides the show, there was also good company for the night:

(before you proceed, learn this: a ‘gourmand’ is a person who enjoys food, and a ‘nomad’ is a person that travels around, and a ‘flogger’ is a food blogger)

I went there with Rebecca Saw, a flogger (below: her pic on left, and her blog screenshot on right). Thankfully she brought her camera, or else this post would have no pictures. Actually, think about it, if there were no pictures, there would be no post. So say thank you to her if you are reading this.

She flogs at thenomadgourmand. We met recently at the recent Friedchillies Food Awards, and we’ve been going for food adventures ever since, including the recent Krispy Kreme launch with Advertlets Bloggers. Earlier on we had dinner at Pasta Zanmai (it’s right next to Carl’s Jr) before crashing the party, and we came to the consensus that it was excellent fusion cuisine. Raw sashimi with cold pasta doesn’t sound that nice, but tastes awesome! And it goes well with the miso soup they serve. We’ll definitely go there again & again (although the dessert was too small).

Thanks for introducing me to a new way to look at food (walking around looking for food is different with a ‘professional foodie’ like you), and very soon, a new angle for me to cover on Josh Lim’s Adventures…FOOD ADVENTURES! I’ll be blogging about a few food outings soon including Pasta Zanmai soon once I get the pics.

Check out Rebecca’s excellent food blog!

I also bumped into someone else! (below, in the green off shoulder dress)…remember Yvonne The Segway Girl? (see previous post) This is the first time I’m actually seeing her without her sunglasses!

Nice to see you again, and glad your leg is better. Don’t fall off again k?

And also…

Melissa Campbell! She so made my month - she was like ‘Josh, you’ve lost weight!’ (in a good way). Yes I was a little chubby a few months back, and yes I have lost some, and I’m glad you noticed. I’ve also been trying to work out - give me a few more months, I hope you notice again. Haha.

Since she’s such a nice girl (and an honest one at that, lol) here’s some free promo. I wish my stomach were as flat as hers:

Melissa Campbell

In case you’re wondering why she looks familar: Melissa’s an actress/model of Scottish/Chinese heritage, and the Malaysian Silkygirl Ambassador. (Her Singaporean counterpart is Felicia Chin, who is an Advertlets Blogger). At 6 year’s old, she starred as Princess Fa-Ying in the film “Anna & The King” alongside Jodie Foster & Chow Yun Fatt. Melissa’s currently starring in Ghost (Season 2), which you can catch every Sunday, 10:30PM on 8TV. Read more about Ghost here on NST. End free promo. Don’t you wish you paid me compliments more often? :)

We also met a giant named Julian Khoo.

1u_rebeccajulian1u_justinjulian

WTF did his parents feed him? This guy makes everyone look small, which is why I didn’t take a picture with him. At 6 feet 5 inches (about 196 CM!), he towers above the 5′3 Rebecca and even the 5′9 Justin Chan.Me, no need to say la.

Visit Beanworks Productions!

Visit Beanworks Productions for your audio needs!

Anyway, Justin Chan and Julian Khoo are partners. Don’t you think they make a cute couple? With their matching white outfits and sparkly smiles?

Actually, no they’re not partners not in that sense, but they run a business together, a sound studio called Beanworks which does sound design for film, tv and commercials.

Meaning they compose music la. Check it out, it’s a pretty cute site. Check out their TV commercial sound design here at beanworksproductions.com.They earn a plug here too because Justin’s a cool dude, and Julian helped us get drinks (Absolut Vodka mixers…the queue was long…and seriously, if you were the bartender, would you be able to ignore him or even say no? He could crush you with his fists!)

So that wraps it up for now.I realized that I haven’t completed some of my posts, namely the Sunburst Music Festival, some remaining shots from the F1 Weekend, and the Krispy Kreme launch. All that will be up soon, together with some new Ask Josh questions & answers!

Btw what does it take for you guys to comment more? Do I have to offer free Krispy Kreme donuts to the top commentators? :)
