Amber & Josh camwhoring!

Some of you may know that before Advertlets, I used to do some theatre and acting. Not so much for the money, but more for that fact that it’s pretty damn fun, and a good experience.

I made the grand sum of… RM400 only from doing this TVC, since I was only a featured extra and it was one of my first jobs. There were like, 4 of us in total though. But of course, I think most people would take it – I got to spend many hours in a van with Amber Chia. Haha. Since there wasn’t much to do on the way, we took lots of pics!

For those that don’t know who is Amber Chia, she’s Malaysia’s most famous model. This TVC was shot shortly after she won the Guess Watches Timeless Beauty contest, where she then became the Guess Ambassador, and subsequently damn famous and appearing everywhere.

This was back in 2004 when I had my small point and shoot camera, which has since gone missing somewhere around the house and I still can’t find it. Thankfully, I saved the pictures before I lost the camera…

I also discovered a few little known facts about Amber:

One thing I must tell you. A lot of people wonder how celebrities look without makeup. I must tell you this:

Amber has ridiculously perfect skin. Like a 12 year old. I know this because she was removing her makeup in the van itself before we took this photos. Even at that distance sitting right next to her, it’s hard to even see the pores.

Another thing…Amber Chia eats a lot. She had chicken rice balls, Twisties, snacks, and she ate lots of Gardenia bread along the way. I think she finished half a loaf. She ate more than the guys. I wish I had her metabolism, seriously.

Here’s a pic with the rest of the cast. The guy in red plays her ‘husband’ in the TVC, and the big dude is my ‘kaki’. I think they chose us two because we contrast greatly. He’s like twice my size.

And here’s a shot you’ll love. This is the closest you’ll ever get to Amber Chia lying next to you in bed:

As you can see, she loves her Guess Jeans I also took the opportunity to camwhore by myself. The shirt and jeans that I wear in the commercial are my own, and are one of my favourite outfits. I look a lot better here as I’ve now put on about 4-6 KG since these pictures were taken. Look, no belly!

The inn, or ‘hotel’ we stayed at was awesome. It was really like something from the past…very ‘classic, heritagey’, and the only thing modern was probably the TV and aircon. Unfortunately I do not remember the place – but all these shots were taken there…does anyone know where this is? Vanessa, Aya…you’re from Malacca, do you know?

Notice that Amber is sitting on two chairs. Although she is pretty tall, on camera they used it for dramatic effect. It’s amazing the level of detail that goes into a short commercial…they even taped down my collar when it was sticking out a bit.
